Are you in favor of broad or narrow use of hyphens in phrasal adjectives? Me, I'm on team broad. For example, in the phrase below, are the pretzels dark, or is the chocolate dark? It's the latter, but putting a hyphen between "Dark" and Chocolate" would prevent a reader miscue.

When it comes to his food, Enzo does OK. On offer today was a new flavor of meatloaf: beef and turkey with chopped cabbage, grated badger flame beets (I didn't make that up), raw eggs, and oatmeal. I added to the cooked meatloaf a bit of brown rice and some roasted butternut squash. Enzo approved.

Here's my tarte Tatin from Thanksgiving. It marks the latest step in a years-long trek. I started with a Martha Stewart recipe, then graduated to a recipe from The Bake School, from which I learned that you can caramelize sugar without any pesky water.
