When it comes to disruptive trolls, there is no need to argue with them. The reason is simple: they are already sore losers. It's not like you have to yell back at them as a way to punish them or put them in their place, or else they win. They're already being punished by their own hate and misery.

The main character of my novel, and future novels in the same series, has positive and negative traits, with emphasis on the latter.
My goal was never to create a likable character. Rather, the goal was always to create a character complex enough to be curious about, whether you like him or not. 🙂

One thing I do a lot in my stories that most authors don't: include music references.
Using song lyrics requires permission, but mentioning just the song title does not. That's OK. All I need is to mention what kind of song it is and what it does for the main character emotionally. 🙂

After closing and reopening my app again, I did another test of drafting a spout with multiple URLs. This time, I copied four long URLs for text news articles from CNN, NPR, CBS News, and NBC News. I added no other text, so that the character counter was still zero.
I still got all red text. ☹

Some books are good because their plots are engaging.
Other books are good because the characters are developed.
Then there are books that are good because they explore themes in detail.
To me, the greatest fiction books do all three. In fact, that's what I attempt to do with my debut novel. 🙂

I closed and reopened my app, then tested the feature by creating a spout with three website links alongside other text. The character count said 145 of 300, yet all of the text was fully red like whenever there are more than 300 characters, and I couldn't spout it. See attached screenshot.

One chapter in my novel has my main character looking back on tragedies in his life and angrily expressing disgust with humanity's biggest flaws. For the audiobook I'm recording, I practically screamed into the microphone for the rant portion of the chapter. I hope I don't scare away listeners. 🙂

Two years ago, I was so distraught by the heated and sometimes violent political climate in America that I made the decision to not travel outside my home state until after the 2024 election.
Given how things are looking up, I probably will go back to visiting other states starting next year. 🙂

Progress on recording the audiobook of my debut novel:
Chapter 19 of 30 is complete. I will do Chapter 20 tonight. I hope I can do two chapters per night so that I wrap it up this weekend.
In the meantime, I like how it's turning out. What listeners will ultimately think will be another story. 🙂

I'm not yet done recording the audiobook of my debut novel, but I think I can guess what the total length might be. Based on the duration of the recording thus far and how many pages I have left, I think the audiobook will have a running time of over eight hours. Neither too short nor too long. 🙂

For my upcoming debut medical thriller novel, I have requested a total of 16 paid reviews.
So far, four of them are done. Three gave the book 5 out of 5 stars, and one gave it 4 out of 5 stars based on a few minor criticisms.
