Shout out to anyone here who follows the #NWSL (National Women's Soccer League).

Bay FC is a new NWSL team, with this year being its inaugural season. In 30 minutes, I will watch this Northern California team take on the Chicago Red Stars, in the same stadium as the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS. 🙂

@cbouzy

I closed and reopened my app, then tested the feature by creating a spout with three website links alongside other text. The character count said 145 of 300, yet all of the text was fully red like whenever there are more than 300 characters, and I couldn't spout it. See attached screenshot.
Christopher Bouzy @cbouzy
📢New: You can now add as many URLs to your spouts as you like without affecting the character count. Make sure you close and reopen your app or perform a hard refresh if you are using a browser.

If you cannot wait for the next season of NFL football to start, there's always spring and summer gridiron football with other leagues. That includes the Indoor Football League, with the same game on a narrower 50-yard field.

Watch the Bay Area Panthers score a touchdown and extra point. 🏈 👇🙂

Ladies and gentlemen, I've finally gotten a Spoutible ad that is not only surprising but also relevant...

A Star Wars-themed burlesque show!

I even went to the link to see more details. Apparently, the show is coming to San Francisco in the coming months.

You know something? I might go see it. 🙂

I spent the last hour shooting arrows at an archery range.

The photo below shows my best round of five shots:
- Three in the center white circle (5 points each)
- One in the middle ring (3 points)
- One in the outermost ring (1 point)

That means I got 19 out of 25 points! Yeah, baby! 🏹🎯 😀

Last night, I completed a game of shogi (Japanese chess) with a checkmate move: moving my promoted rook one square to the right to trap the opponent's king, with the help of my promoted bishop preventing escape one square down and with no way to block or capture my rook.

Man, this game is hard. 🙂

Introduction to Burmese Chess

In this thread, I shall introduce everyone to yet another chess game that has originated outside the Western world. This time, I shall talk about sittuyin, a chess game found in Myanmar (formerly Burma), so it may sometimes be called Burmese chess.

Here I am again with a thread talking about how to play a specific variant of chess outside the Western world. This time, I shall talk about shatranj, which is essentially Persian chess. It existed long ago in Persia, the Arab world, and beyond.

Here's how you play...

Here is yet another variant of chess hailing from another part of the world: makruk, also known as Thai chess. This one is quite similar to Western chess, such that my thread describing this game may be quicker than my other introductory threads on chess variants.

OK, time for another thread explaining the rules of a variant form of chess. This time, I shall talk about Japanese chess, also known as shogi. I've already discussed Chinese and Korean chess, but brace yourself. Japanese chess is quite unique.

I have won a game of Korean chess, beating the computer on the app's highest difficulty level. The two screenshots here show the second-to-last board state and the last board state, where one blue chariot traps the red general as another blue chariot guards the same row. I feel good about this. 🙂

The #NFCChampionship game was a nailbiter, ending with the San Francisco #49ers erasing a 17-point deficit to beat the Detroit #Lions by a score of 34-31.

Give credit to the Lions for playing their heart out and making this game tough for the 49ers. The Lions will be back in the playoffs again. 🙂

On an app for the Chinese game of go, I have beaten the computer opponent on the hardest difficulty level. As shown in the screenshot below, I, the player with the black pieces, narrowly captured more territory than my opponent playing white, after excluding the black pieces at risk for capture. 🙂

The California State Capitol in Sacramento is a beautiful place to visit. It is a building where the public can view display cases dedicated to the state's 58 counties, plus other cool features. There is also stuff outdoors, around the building. If you are a proud Californian, be sure to stop by. 🙂

The Golden State Warriors are known for regular use of the three-point shot, with accuracy, as part of its arsenal. Here, in tonight's game against the Brooklyn Nets, Klay Thompson sinks a three-pointer after getting a pass from Chris Paul. Klay is one of the Splash Brothers for a reason. 🏀 🙂

San Francisco 49ers home game stadium tradition:

Whenever the 49ers get another 1st down, the PA announcer will announce, "...for another 49errrrrrrrrrrrrrr 1ST DOWN!" Then the fans do a grunting chant: "Aahh oohh! Aahh oohh! Aahh Oohh!" (I read somewhere that it's inspired by the movie 300.) 🙂

San Francisco 49ers home game stadium tradition:

Whenever the opponent is on a 3rd down, the PA announcer says, "This... is THIRRRRRRRRRRD DOOWWWNNNNNN!" And the fans get excited and hyped up for what will hopefully be solid 49ers defense to prevent the opponent from converting to a 1st down. 🏈 🙂

Contrary to popular belief, sitting in a sporting event venue seat furthest from the playing field does not really diminish the spectator experience. If anything, it shows the whole view of the game without requiring head turns.

For example, look at this upper-level seat view at Levi's Stadium. 🙂

Spoutible's Auto-Generated Thread Summary function powered by artificial intellgence is close to perfect.

Below, I have quote-spouted the thread I spouted this morning and attached a screenshot of the Auto-Generated Thread Summary for it. The wording is practically flawless, with no errors. 🙂

As an Asian American, I've been associated with the model minority myth. Early in my life, it was something I thought was good. These days, it bothers me. Understanding why it is problematic requires looking at it with a critical eye.

Allow me to provide a brief explanation, in my own words.

One cool thing about Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, is that it also includes the 49ers Museum. For an admission price of $49, one can see exhibits related to the team's history, plus their five Super Bowl trophies and rings.

Seriously, do any other NFL stadiums have team museums like this? 🙂

My favorite old-time classic Disney character is Goofy.

He's funny because he's clumsy. I like him in the Disney animated shorts that parody instructional videos, satirize sports, and present everyday life. I also like him in recent works, like Goof Troop.

And I have a Goofy plush doll. 🤗

Which of the following old-time classic Disney characters is your favorite?

(Note: I'll tell you mine tomorrow.)

Mickey Mouse

Donald Duck

Goofy

Today, I spent a bit of my afternoon in Alameda, CA, at the Pacific Pinball Museum, which displays pinball machines from the 1930s (!) to today and has modified nearly all of them to allow unlimited free play for visitors.

This brings back childhood memories, because I loved pinball as a kid. 🙂

Not far from Mount Shasta in Northern California is Lake Siskiyou, a beautiful body of water that is just perfect for boating, fishing, and water play, plus camping nearby.

In the last photo, Mt. Shasta is in the distance, though partly obscured by clouds (darn weather). Oh well. 🏞⛰☁️ 🙂
