Anyone who grew up in the rural Midwest knows that the county fair is a highlight every late summer or fall. The Hillsdale County Fair was established in 1850 and is my go-to fair. As a stuffed cow, this is my jam! I visited today and will share my adventures for the next week. Enjoy! #Bessie

ArtPrize is the world’s largest open art competition held annually every fall in Grand Rapids, MI. First held in 2009, Art Prize awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes each year. Anyone can enter and the public votes on their favorites. This is from my visit this year. #Bessie

I'm at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH in 2000 in front of the Millennium Force. The tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world upon opening in 2000, it still ranks as one of the best coasters in the entire world. Unfortunately, I do not meet the height requirements and can only watch. #Bessie

Earlier this year I made a visit to Marietta, Ohio. Nestled between the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers and founded in 1788 by pioneers to the Ohio Country, Marietta was the first permanent U.S. settlement in the newly established Northwest Territory. #Bessie

On a very pink street in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in 2022. The city’s history dates back to the early 16th century, when Spanish colonists founded a small colonial settlement in the region. I don't think the pink street is quite as old as that! #Bessie

Time to go shopping! I was spotted in 2020 inside the City Market in Charleston, SC. Established in the 1790s, the market stretches four city blocks from the architecturally-significant Market Hal through a continuous series of one-story market sheds. Yes, I bought a sweetgrass basket. #Bessie

Back to School Week concludes today with a stop at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Founded in 1842, Notre Dame is one of the top universities in the United States. I visited during move-in weekend a few weeks ago, which was a big mistake. #Bessie

Back to School Week continues with my stop at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor this summer. Here I am in front of The Big House. This football stadium is the largest in the United States and the Western Hemisphere, the third largest stadium in the world, with a seating capacity of 107,601.
