Yes! I also had a lot of notebooks that I never filled. My neighbors were a bit boring. We also lived pretty far out from town, so it was a hike to get to a neighbor's house to 'spy' on them.

I know! NYC! Thanks for letting me know about the Brody book. I just added it to my list. Okay, it's at the TOP of my list. Who am I kidding? My friend and I sneaked into a neighbor's house when we were 9 after reading Harriet the Spy. We ran right back out because we were so afraid to get caught!

I just saw it! Yes, "Pierre" is a bit more worn. 🥰
"One Was Johnny" and "Chicken Soup with Rice" were always tied for second.

I just spouted about this! I still have mine from when I was 3 or 4. Relatively good shape, but also well loved.

When I was about 3 or 4, my favorite books were the Nutshell Library by Maurice Sendak. There are 4 tiny books (6x9 cm) in the cardboard holder. My favorite was "Pierre" who walked around and said "I don't care!" to anything he was asked. I used to read them all the time. I still have them.

It was by chance. I was happy to hear everyone's voice. Such a great way to connect. Thank you for being brave and showing us how it is done, April.

Does anyone else in Club Tsundoku have a favorite bookmark? I have one from my mom that is very special. It is made out of black walnut and inlaid with other types of wood. It says" Life is too short to drink bad wine." I have had it for 20 + years. I have another one made by a woodworker friend.

Reading three at once is not my usual style. The "heavy book" punches hard at times, and that is when I switch. The "for fun" book helps recenter my mood and perspective.

My TBR stack is high and several years deep. Currently reading three books. One is a bit heavy and depressing (but important), so the other two balance it out.
