From a 2021 project shot for Bike Walk Tompkins (www.bikewalktompkins.org), I was reminded today of this frame - a fav from the shoot. Ithaca NY is lucky to have such an active bicycling community & a creative advocacy in BWT to support them.

2 Threaded Spouts

Had a great week working & relaxing in #Aruba , which I'm told is home to some 300 species of lagadishi, Papiamento for lizard. I met this one early on while location scouting. As a desert island Aruba can present stark contrasts 'twixt sea & land like this desert dweller walking a sea wall's edge.

@DeanObeidallah is quick witted, sharp minded, insightful, & courageous. We met at the Press Room in Portsmouth NH back in February 2016. After his set (during which I had rudely snapped this quick portrait) we had a conversation abt the politics of ethnicity I still recall w warmth & gratitude.

"The Boxing Tree"
#Aruba is a desert island. Native #DiviDivi trees eke out a hard living, making the best of what moisture they can draw from their microclimates.
This one, which grew where the leeward & tough windward shores meet, has seen better days but shadow boxes still as the day's end nears.

"Young Lad Mugging for the Camera"
A young fellow sat w his mom in a deli staring at my camera. On a hunch, I raised it to my eye & he started mugging straight away.
Shot in color, his expression recalled #Spanky from #LittleRascals inspiring me to render this frame in B&W.

This frame, never intended as a presentable work, was a distraction from location scouting late in the day. The group of reeds, almost as tall as I, waved vigorously w the slightest breeze, making a clean image difficult even at 1/1600 sec. Failing light afforded only a few tries at f/2.8 & ISO 400

Dog days (pt 3 of 3):
If you're old enough you may recall the old RCA Victor logo - a dog called Nipper staring into a gramophone with the caption "His Master's Voice". Some years back, I thought that image was overdue for an update, this version entitled "His Boss's Voice".

Dog days (pt 2):
I met Olive while walking down Newbury St in #boston between assignments on a summer afternoon. Olive was engaged in her favorite pastime, her owner told me, ppl watching. She focused on passersby, aloofly ignoring the camera-weilding bloke taking her portrait. My kind of dog.

Was walking toward #FaneuilHall #boston to photograph a project when I came upon Walter who evidently thinks meeting new ppl is great fun. We stopped for an ear scratch & a few quick frames. A modeling neophyte, he was nonetheless a quick & enthusiastic study.
