Why do they all seem to land on the back of my neck or shoulders? Then I feel “something,” reach back, and it’s a bug. At least I caught it before I started driving.

I thought I’d count. One of my dogs, Tex, ate 100 cicadas in the afternoon walk; + or - 5. I won’t let him dig in people’s yards for them. This is just what he ate off the sidewalk. He doesn’t eat them in the morning, preferring the afternoon walk cicadas.

All it takes is a walk on a sunny mild day for three ideas for the #WIP to make it stronger, pop into my head. Davy helps.

Gardening therapy today. Planted the melons and acorn squash; the orange peppers; and one pot of flowers. Scrubbed the bird bath. Filled three cans with "weeds." Spent the time also telling cicadas to go elsewhere when they landed on me.

It feels like the invasion might be winding down, although there are still lots on some plants. And I do not wish to share my Buono Beef with a cicada. #cicadas2024

Hamlet won't go outside and sit on the deck because of the cicadas so I open the front door for the sunshine.

For years, YEARS, I tell you, I've had extra bottles of dish soap on the shelf. It would be on sale and I'd think, "Do I have an extra bottle?" so I would buy one and find the extra bottle. Oh well.

My health insurance requests a yearly nurse practitioner review. Just did it and I'm so normal, it's depressing.

Why, oh why, do these cicadas land on my back or back of my shoulders or neck? They don't bite but it is annoying to feel something, reach back there, and come up with a 2 inch long screaming bug.

So Lamy has their summer limited edition colors. I don't have any red/pink in my arsenal but I don't care for the way they mixed the colors. The Pina colada, however....(No, I do not need more LAMY pens, but...but...)

This first cicada photo is of a tree along a dog walk. Notice the cicadas on the trunk and then the tan stuff on the ground. All that tan stuff are the husks of the grubs which came out of the soil, cracked open to let out the adult bugs.

Finished the book I was reading; "Dead Wake" by Erik Larson, the writer behind "Devil in the White City" or "In the Garden of Beasts." All these are excellent books. Not sure what I will start next. #bookfanatic #bookfanatic

Another rewrite pass through THE MARINER. Figured out a minor character had to die early on for impact later. Table read won't happen until mid-July so it's available if someone wants some "light" reading. Drama, maybe horror? I have no idea. #screenwritingspoutible

Another rewrite finished. Thank goodness for slow weeks. The table read this weekend has been postponed until the end of the month. That gives me a whole month to find the typos, missing words, absent slug lines, and contemplate "Who wrote this drivel?" #screenwritingspoutible

I wanted to provide an update on the state of the Chicagoland cicada invasion of 2024. This is a "tree" in my backyard. It's a volunteer thing. I usually take these down in early spring but I was on vacation and then too busy. It is festooned with cicadas. I walk near this on the way to my car in

That point of panic when you can't remember your PIN number to access your checking account to get cash for the long weekend and it's clear, as you scrounge frantically, you didn't write it down because you made it "something I'll remember, easily."

In today's episode of "Life with Cicadas," we find our intrepid dog walker walking dogs. You know the phrase, "Can't hear yourself think?" Good lord.
I am pretty "meh" about them landing on my clothing. The one on the back of my neck was not appreciated. Here's a close up from the yard.#cicadas2024

#garendersofspoutible , I have an issue. I have this pot where I put black petunias, yellow marigolds, and something white. It represents my Iowa Hawkeyes. This morning, my pot was decimated. I'm pretty sure it's chipmunks as I saw one in the pot last year.
