And remember, white farmers SUED because the financial relief was meant for Black farmers who'd been systemically discriminated against.

Some people really don't get how our system works and it shows. We need Schoolhouse Rock more than ever. And frankly, if what The Heritage Foundation is proposing via their Project 2025 doesn't terrify you, you haven't been paying attention.

Politics is not a popularity contest, nor will every politician be able to fulfill whatever wish list folks have. It's about harm reduction first and foremost. I'm not trying to fall in love with Biden or anything, but give the man a chance to get shit done that matters to me.

Thing is, I had a modicum of respect for the man because he respected Obama despite disagreeing with him on policy. He also seemed to express remorse for foisting Caribou Barbie on the American people. But he's turned out to be another self-centered, greedy grasping buttnugget.

It might not be "healthy" but for those of us who've been harmed by Republican policies, it's a damn sight safer. And Schmidt has proven himself fickle as too many Never Tr*mpers are. They're not used to a diverse party nor Black voters having powerful influence and it shows.

"Dupe" implies that they were fooled in some way into breaking the law.

I don't believe that for a minute.

They KNEW full well what they were doing because they hated the people their fearful leader hated and if that meant subverting democracy then so be it.

I do talk about politics here because for a Black woman like myself, the personal is political. My very existence is politics though it shouldn't be. However I feel safe sharing my experiences and the way I negotiate in the world. I feel heard. And no worries about trolls looking for engagement.

The issue has never been about abortion.

It's about controlling women.

Not one peep about the Black maternal mortality rate. They're fine with children starving at school. They're against sex education and birth control. They're all about gutting the social safety net for women and children.

Moreover it's the same old books during Banned Books Week which, while important, are not always relevant to the reading public at large. This is also an indictment of the largely white western canon of literature that is prioritized over BBIMP and other marginalized voices.

That's good to know.

How about the availability of comprehensive sex ed. We all know "abstinence only" programs are a failure. Kids need to be informed about their bodies and consent. Adults too for that matter.

Do you know if those clinics have reproductive health services and if so, are they affordable?

I know this sounds like I'm grilling you, but if you're serious about running, my questions are the least of your problems lol.

😊

I have family in Texas and my great-grandmother was born in Tyler. Though I'm a West Coast chick through and through, Texas is still a big part of my heritage so it's always mattered to me what happens there.

The personal is ALWAYS political.

Thank you for answering two of my questions, lol.

You say a 12 week window would be a start. You are aware however that many women - especially poor women and BIPoC - still do not have access to basic reproductive health services much less abortion. Where's the closest clinic to your town?

I have a few questions:

1) what are the demographics of your district?

2) what policies are you willing to "compromise" on?

3) a lot of "Never Tr* mpers are proving themselves untrustworthy or want to turn the Democratic Party into the Republican Party lite. Why should Dem voters trust YOU?
