The archetypes on ST were so clearly defined it was a great template for others to play around in without straying too far from how people knew and loved them. (A couple of exceptions here and there, like laughing Vulcans in "Spock's World").

Loved that whole series. As a teenager made quite a few attempts to write one of my own... alas the stories literally never left Spacedock.

Are there three more miserable-looking extraordinarily privileged people on the planet?

Why anyone worships this dreadful clan is totally lost on me. Then again, I have a brain and a sense of empathy.

That's why I laugh whenever the media runs another "Conservatives Outraise Everybody Again" piece. They're probably spending way more than what's coming in running the Jeff Ballingall troll & meme playbook (which one should note has lost the last two elections anyway).

That will become more and more apparent as the months linger on and Poilievre keeps swinging at every pitch. Were it not for "incumbency fatigue" he'd be polling in the low teens and the party vultures would be circling. As it stands I don't believe his support is as deep as polls suggest.

When he's not there for weeks on end will be a happy era for humanity.

We give him so much power to make us miserable by talking about him constantly.

Depending on how this polls with the extreme right, I expect Pierre Poilievre to post a video of himself kicking a chihuahua and saying it was Trudeau's fault.

They are obviously worried that the attacks ARE in fact landing according to their internal polling, otherwise they wouldn't wheel out Harper's comms director to barf up a "no one cares!" op-ed.

Jeez, it's all so predictable.

I have to believe there is a silent majority that is not ok with how the Cons and their RWNJ comms people (and troll farms) have guttered the discourse, regardless of what polls say. Campaigning on restoring decency might be a winning strategy.

No, but when a poll mysteriously appears claiming this has made Canadians more likely to support the little piffleswipe, you can bet it will lead the coverage.

I don't see how he keeps going all the way to October 2025. Doesn't matter how upset Canadians are at the incumbent, not enough of them will be down with electing an unrelenting jackass.

Harper knew how to dial it back and play statesman when he needed to. Poilievre swings at every pitch.

It's no different than quietly walking away from the obnoxious jackass mouthing off at the party even if he hasn't said anything to you specifically.

Gotta blunt the bounce whenever Trudeau gets a win. I'm surprised the headline wasn't "Poilievre more trusted on EV investment, says latest poll" 🤦

As for the TW turning against the writer, if someone is truly and deeply offended by it being there to the point where they DNF you, they probably aren't the kind of reader you'd want anyway.

Readers aren't a homogeneous group, not even with themselves. Some love being challenged and some just want to be comforted and that can vary within the person depending on the day, right? As long as we are not using our words to punch down, we should just tell the story we want to tell.

I think of it as being like movie ratings. A cover and a description don't necessarily give enough information about how emotionally difficult a book might be for some readers or what the tone is like (blood & guts & swears etc.)

It is a fact of existence that conservatives will empty their bank accounts to donate to conservative parties and blame liberals for making life too expensive in the same breath.

Like people who donate all their money to millionaire evangelists and then don't understand why God has made them poor.

This program has been in place for over five years, but after Poilievre jets around the country lying about it with a rhyming slogan for a few months with no pushback it's suddenly a crisis? This is not how a serious country governs itself.
