Turf houses are #grass roofed houses. It’s tight quarters but warm and cozy inside. To the left of the entrance was family living quarters with fires in between for cooking. Right was room for animals which added more heat. No beds though - sleep was sitting up against the wall.

The Eiriksstadir Viking Home is a replica turf-house in the Dalabyggd region in West Iceland. Eiriksstadir is the homestead of the famous Viking and explorer, Eric the Red. It’s extremely rustic with dirt floors and walls of wood slats. It can easily be deconstructed to be moved to another location.

Lush #grass covers 5 millennia of human history at Belas Knap long barrow. This Neolithic stone monument to the dead was constructed around 3000 BCE (before the pyramids).
The remains of 31 people were found in its chambers during excavations in 1863 and 1865.

Photo taken in 2012 when walking the Cotswold Way National Trail.
A flat grassed area leads to a large gently curved earth mound covered in thick green grass. There are scattered yellow and white meadow flowers. Some deciduous trees are visible in the background on the left. Many of the branches are leafless. The sky is grey.
A stone wall runs along the edge of the mound and contains what appears to be an entryway flanked by upright flat boulders with another used as a lintel. The portal is blocked by a large boulder and more stacked stones. This is a false entrance and the burial chambers were entered from the sides of the barrow. When the barrow was not being accessed, the side entrances were closed and covered by dirt, effectively hiding them.
The barrow was restored after the 19th century excavations.

Why the violence?

The POTUS has no control over Israel and Gaza. Netanyahu and HAMAS are both brutal.
Too many innocent lives lost.
Israel has an Embassy in the U.S. ,why not take your protests there?

It’s spring 2024, months after the October massacre and kidnappings.
A thinking person could ask questions about the college protests , traffic blockades, antisemitism and Islamophobia.

Well, I've run out of room in both of my grow rooms for seedlings as I up-pot into bigger containers. Some of the reviving geraniums are going to have to go outside for now and be brought in when it gets too cold at night. If you're a plant in my world you quickly find out where you really stand.
