Frustrated. Went out for dinner here in Annapolis. Talked to the mgr about MD football and her son was with an SEC team. I asked if he played for Tuberville. She never heard of the guy. This is a navy town too. Lots of folks out there who pay no attention to politics. Not good for democracy

I’ve been watching the CF unfold in the Congress. IMO, all elected Congressional Reps and Sens should have the pro rata portion of their salary FORFEIT during a govt shutdown. Every shutdown is solely their fault. For most it won’t matter much. But for some it might compel them to compromise.

Amid all the hand wringing the media has missed (unsurprisingly) that beyond the 2+ million govt employees affected by the shutdown there are also thousands of small businesses who rely on govt workers spending who will lose that revenue permanently. There won’t be any reimbursement for them.

I’m a long time Star Trek fan. TOS, STNG, DS1, Voyager and Discovery. Watched Strange New Worlds, originally not happy but made it thru S1. S2 has been better. Gorn are awesome. A cross over to Lower Deck? It was clever-good. But they come up with a musical. WTF?! It.is.Brilliant! I’m all in

Apropos of nothing in particular, we saw Mission Impossible and it was terrific. Action was great, some good humor, a bunch of fun and interesting gimmicks and stunts. I highly recommend it.

I’m pleased the indictments of Trump have finally occurred but the assignment of Aileen Connors to the case is mind numbingly insane. Judge assignment’s are “random” but if there was ever a train wreck in the making, this is an obvious one. The 11th Circuit should have stepped in proactively.

All the media focus on who won or lost between Biden and the GOP is ridiculous. It’s a waste of print and juvenile. It was a catastrophe averted and frankly we need to move on. Focus on Biden’s accomplishments, GOP hypocrisy and zero in on the 2024 massively important election.

Really, what is the market for self driving cars? I’m not a car guy, just point to point for me. But the auto makers have those ads about how sexy and vigorous driving is. Up mountains, thru puddles, snow banks etc. Who will pay $100k to be able to play video games while commuting in traffic?

I’ve been thinking about the debt limit discussions. No I really don’t want the US to default. Neither does Biden but McCarthy doesn’t care, or rather cares more about remaining Speaker. Joe Biden has to negotiate and we’re all going to be pissed off with the resulting trade offs aren’t we.
