I’ve been really busy today, so I missed this. April was one of the first people who welcomed this western Canadian to Spoutible. She’s also one of the nicest people I have met her. From my 🩵 to her 💛.

Over the past days and weeks some people here have openly expressed anti-Canadian views. Essentially, they would prefer Canadians were less funny, less popular, and less existing in this place.

Some of those accounts specifically targeted me and my friends in a not so subtle manner.

I truly wish transphobic people could feel half as comfortable in their own skin as trans folks feel in ours. I firmly believe that is the primary root of all this.

I want anti-trans people to love themselves as much as trans people love ourselves.

We would get the manufacturers to donat egrab bars. My equipment rental coordinator would handle intake calls. My team was already on the road all over the county would do the install.

Red Cross was very concerned about needing means testing. I said I would put a question on the intake.

I go back to the office. Call the owner up and set a meeting.
Later that day, an email goes out to the OT company who does all the assessments. Their OTs start sending people my way.

It's a roaring success.

The head OT did a study based on our numbers.

We installed grab bars in around 200 homes in the first 6 months of the program. Based on her numbers she had from the Ministry, she figured we had save the healthcare system over $400,000 from prevented falls

How did it effect my company?

Our rollator walker sales (govt subsidized and the gateway mobility aid) went up 150%. It wasn't just the people who we touched that were choosing us - the OTs who could nudge them were suggesting us because we were doing good things.

I'm not sure if they still have that program running but one day, because I was hungover and annoyed, I saved the Ontario healthcare system almost a half million dollars and prevented around 100 seniors from having to go to the hospital.

If you're anywhere within traveling distance of Victoria, Canada, the museum just got a VERY badass visitor.

Sue is one of the world's most famous dinosaurs- one of the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurs, which sold for a then-record $8.4 million.

At the dinner, I didn't speak much, but I enjoyed listening to the funny stories being shared. Even when they pertained to a topic I knew nothing about, like Indian cinema, I laughed along and felt really good.

Therapist No. 2 gave me very high praise for joining that dinner.

One time, a group of colleagues were going out to dinner the next night. At first, I didn't want to go. But shortly before the dinner, I made a last-minute decision to actually go after all. I figured if I didn't enjoy it, at least I tried.

It turned out to be a great thing.

Therapist No. 2 focused more on self-awareness of feelings, plus taking steps to connect with others. Whenever I shared moments of interacting with people, she would ask, "How did that make you feel?" It was challenging to answer at first, but eventually, that became a good habit.

Therapist No. 1 taught me to have empathy, by paying attention to other people's feelings in addition to my own. While I didn't instantly become any more social, at least I was getting used to observing others with less angst. This exercise was an important step towards humanity.

For two years, I visited three different therapists, each providing different insights and advice. Each session allowed me to look beyond myself and focus more on the surrounding world. Each moment of discovery reduced my negativity and replaced it with a dose of positivity.

Life got to the point where I was bitter. Things were not what I expected. I was lonely, angry at others for not noticing me, and not getting any respect. But I still had a sense of morals, wanting to do the right things. So I made a life-changing decision...

I saw a therapist.

In high school and beyond, I despised my peers as being beneath me. Being raised with traditional Asian values, I was a hardcore academic resisting all social pressures. I wanted to succeed without anything bringing me down. I was proud of myself while sneering at everyone else.

On Spoutible, I regularly spout positive, sensitive, and thoughtful stuff. You'll be shocked to know that, a long time ago, I used to be a bitter cynic, highly critical of people to the point of misery.

How is it that I could do such a major 180? Well, let me tell you that story.

I'm looking for my Canadian #SPOUTANS 😉

We need to get the ball rolling by following each other and make sure Republicans' little cousins in #Canada (Conservatives) don't gain power

Doug Ford is live example making Ontario his property- Ontario Place & #Greenbelt are crimes in the open
