From kgreenberg_ on hellscape: Prosecutor Leo Wise pointed to the Biden family who attended Hunter Biden’s trial and said that while jurors may recognize them, none of that matters. But it did matter; it mattered to the prosecutors.

SCOTUS may announce opinions on Thursday, June 13, and Friday, June 14. The court heard only 61 cases in the 2023-24 term, nearly a historic low. Of the 29 cases left, the most contentious ones remain, including federal prosecution of Trump, abortion access, gun rights, and online speech.

If you’ve been in The Morning Commute on weekday AMs, you’ve heard me say that SDNY should have brought the NY (Manhattan) Trump case, but it was blocked by Republicans at multiple levels. The FEC OGC recommended federal charges - blocked by Republicans and Trump’s AG Bill Barr.

For 15 years, New York DAs have routinely prosecuted first-degree falsification of business records, covering minor to serious crimes. This underscores their commitment to accountability for such offenses. The Trump case isn't novel; he was simply caught and held accountable. https://www.justsecurit

The rule of law is not a constant, like gravity, but a necessary and proper function of a constitutional republic. The jury deliberated and spoke, and these guilty verdicts will echo into eternity.
