My dear spouters good morning,
I’ve been out of Spoutible because I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been a couple of terrible weeks trying to process and deal with this diagnose. My chemotherapy will start next Wednesday April 10th. I am taking myself off Spoutible for now.

It was a #Leap in the dark when I first took up writing hiking guides. An unknown road ahead then, but so rewarding in hindsight.

Grandkid in mid #leap during the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC a number of years ago. Same grandkid is now in a 2-year program at the Martha Graham School in NYC. More details in AltText.

For many years it was an annual tradition — bringing the grandtwins to the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. Both twins were dancers and frequently wore ballet outfits complete with toe shoes to pose among the blossoms. They frequently also brought their parasols which I had bought them the first year we attended when they were about 5 or 6. One twin would always want to be filmed mid leap. One year, this ballerina caught the attention of a group of tourists from Japan. The tour guide asked my daughter if this twin was someone famous. Imagine the groups' amazement when both twins started answering questions in Japanese. Both twins had been in a Japanense immersion program since first grade at their local public elementary school and were fluent in Japanese. They had fulfilled any college level language requirement by the time they graduated from high school.

When I learned today’s theme was leap, one photo came immediately and persistently to mind.
Be inspired by Jaime Guttenberg’s beautiful #leap to support gun safety initiatives. Jaime was killed by a mass murderer in her school.
