That can be confusing when the borders are malleable? Maybe depending on the mountain ranges/lakes/natural bodies? Here, we have the Great Dividing Range that makes a natural difference - especially socio-economically. You live between the range and coast, you're fine. Behind it inland, not so.

@noblerot I remember watching this interview with a British chef come to this country and was shocked to see the abundance of #samphire which retails around $30/kg over there. They grow around our coastal areas and I can get them...for free. Fresh too.

@RobertoV I managed to nab these two El Avion paprika at a local specialty store. So glad they're available here now. They're from Alicante.

Both smoked, but the dulce is absolutely incredible. It truly adds a je ne sais quoi to my dishes, elevates them 😋 @hereforthepopcorn @josefkonrad @noblerot

I have never found them anywhere in the world except in Galicia hence I have a hankering for them, We have a form of goose barnacle here but they're not in that shape or meat form as the percebes.

Northern Spain is fantastic: cider, wine, seafood. Did you try the egg tarts at Belem?

Just spent about 3 weeks along that northern coast in Spain. Found a great little restaurant in Navia. They had lots of small vineyard wines. They explained and had us taste the Galician wines. I was surprised how good they were.

@bron1us I agree. That's a wasted truffle! This is the fresh #truffle I bought from the #truffiere @noblerot and I placed it in a jar of arborio (which I had brought with me) so the rice would absorb the smell. The jar sans trouffe still smells truffly!

I think the #TruffleFestivals here are still at their early stage because there aren't enough truffle growers. Probably Western Australia would have a better luck because their whole south-west region with #MargaretRiver has those things.

I'm interested in your native American truffles actually...

During the Sydney Olympics I threw a big Australian themed party for large corporate accounts. Snuck in some friends. One friend from Sydney showed up to a party filled with suits wearing a hat with corks just like this, He walked around telling everyone the corks are to swat the flies away.😂🤣😂

It was great! It's a seasonal cottage industry with a niche market.

These producers are just like small wine and olive producers. But the family were excellent hosts.

BTW, came across this - have you been? Apparently pinot and truffle go well together.
