Likely brought to the islands by the Chumash thousands of years ago, they are smaller than native CA gray foxes. Nearly extinct in the '90s 2,000 cover the island. With no natural predators, they're charming, nearly fearless little imps.

A good day! I hatched bantam chicks March 10, (Silkies, D'Uccles, Cochins). Today a friend called me in a panic, it's her niece's 11th Birthday and the chicks she ordered as a gift have been delayed until April. Did I have chicks? I do! She adopted 4, and Rae is thrilled with her new babies!

Cousin to the Camel, llama, Alpaca and Guanaco, it's the second smallest camelid - the Viçuna of South America. This one lives in the wild at the Chimborazo Reserve, a 145,000-acre reserve between Ambato and Riobamba, which spans the borders of three provinces. We were lucky to see it roadside.
