More people died there than the target of atomic weapons.
Literal fire hurricanes killed thousands.
The only difference was one plane, one bomb vs hundreds of planes and thousands of bombs.

Political parties are tools, just depends on who holds the handle. GOP serves extreme wealth & uses fear to keep the tool effective.
Fear that such a weapon is necessary for personal protection, thus cannot be banned or modified for the public good.
