Yes most of my central and south America students classify themselves as white, even the darker skinned ones. I have feelings about that but I'll keep them private on this Christmas eve 😉

I very recently learned that some south Asian and Middle Eastern people consider themselves white when they come to the United States. I learned because a Pakistani man with skin darker than mine told me he was white. I told him he might call himself white but Americans—white ones especially—do not.
