I trained my piloting skills enough that I don't need to cheese the game anymore to take out whole fleets of ships on very hard difficulty, and then I built a ship with huge forearms.

I have yet to see a better ship overall than the one I've made here.
Class A engines give it a max speed of 150
Yet it has 3000 cargo, and 91 Mobility
Not to mention, a ton of weaponry for disabling and boarding ships, even turrets for when I need indiscriminate ship combat.

I discovered something today about ships in #starfield . The top speed is not dictated by the reactor class, but by the highest class of engine. As such, you can use Class A engines with Class B or C reactors and maintain a top speed of 150.

It's really kind of the perfect ship. Hardly ever gets hit by weapon fire, bed in the middle between the cockpit and armory makes getting the 15% XP bonus for resting with a companion easy. Plenty of cargo, max speed and maneuverability and deals a lot off damage.

I think I prefer the class A ship over the class C.
More speed means more battle options, and since this one is a lot more minimalist, and I've built it with the whole bound box game mechanic cheese, the enemy's shots just miss, they pass right by me and I can take on fleets of ships.

The Mantis after some more cosmetic changes, not sure yet if that third level is going to get hit in combat yet, but I wanted to add some industrial look to the war pancake.

The Mantis just got a massive upgrade, about 250,000 credits worth and she's now a class C ship.
Class C reactor (29 power)
Class C Shields (1600 shield points)
2x Class C Engines (18000/8800)
100 Mobility
130 Speed
Needs one more engine and some cosmetic work when I get more creds.

There you go! That's the "middle" off my ship, as indicated by the mission waypoint icon. Other ships that shoot at me will be aiming at that spot, so they miss.

Refining the L shaped design and it seems to be working, I just took very little shield damage from a 3 pack of level 20+ ships, and am about to board, loot and steal this one.

The whole Star Eagle now, designed in a way that's meant to cheese a game mechanic so I just don't get hit by other ships.
Other ships will target the center point of the bounding box your ship is in, so if the center of the box is empty, shots will go right by you.
Or so I've heard.

Me, Sam and Vasco just chilling out after another ship redesign. Found a ground level side entry bay so I don't have to run all the way to the back of the ship. I really like the look of that Hopetech docker on the right. Changed the red to be less red too, and a bit more mismatched.

My highly modified Star Eagle. The engines and the reactor are awesome, so I kept those, replaced the grav drive, most of the guns, most of the habs, and made a LOT of cosmetic changes.
Mobility and Speed maxed out.
Jump range improved.

Just got the Star Eagle mission ship. I'm going to be doing a LOT of work to this thing, don't like the weapons systems, most of the hab modules are useless space fillers, but that 29 reactor, yes please. I'm gonna build an epic class A ship around that.

Rearranged my current ship to be less wide, more tall. All modules the same. I'd sell the extra racks but it's just a waste of money if I need them again in the future.
Gonna start the mission grind for the Freestar Collective ship, I want that 30 power reactor.
