I find myself checking my vernacular every day. There are phrases, that when they pop into my head in line to be used, I shy completely away from. I'd rather excise a larger portion of my vocabulary than potentially harm or insult someone with an offhand remark that could have been avoided.

Crimmins said the Left is full of people who grew up with abuse, decided to leave it, & vowed to let no oppression go unanswered. But unhealed trauma made it easy for Holy Wars to break out between factions until everyone was standing on their own little ice floe because you can't fix everything.

Did you stretch before that reach? The word "butch" did not attach to "women" or the LGBTQ movement until the 1940s. The word was used amongst Black Americans long before then to describe the physique of those who were sharecroppers in the field. "Butch" workers presented as strong and dominant.
