Spent the afternoon judging at the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston.
30% more participants this year, almost 1000 students of every size, shape, color, gender.
What fun…Science/engineering are more popular than ever. The young people are savvy, much more than I was at their age.

After 35 inches of rain, on July 4th, 2002 a wall of water flooded over the spillway of the Canyon Lake damn in the Central Texas hill country.The deluge lasted 6 weeks and carved a gorge exposing 110 million year old dinosaur tracks, preserved in soft tidal flat muds; this one, a cousin of T Rex.

One of my favorite 1958 movies is The Big Country, Gregory Peck, Burl Ives, but Jean Simmons so good, wonderful huge western scenes, I always felt like I was there.
