Joining a band – or any type of organized team activity – can teach much about management, especially Tuckman’s Team Development concept of forming, storming, norming and performing.

Did you once play an instrument but life got in the way? Music is such a healthy thing to pursue. Check out my article, Four reasons to dust off that instrument, on my band’s LinkedIn page here:

In the three years since I last purchased jeans, it seems the deep state has altered the unit of measure known as the "inch," meaning where I once needed 34 of them for my waist, I now need 36. Suspicious. and portentous.

In browsing Google Street View, in Helensvale, Queensland, just outside of Brisbane (Australia) on a service road by the Pacific Motorway, there's a hat - or at least there was in 2018. Just putting it out there in case anyone is missing their hat.

Barbie Brewer has led teams at Netflix and GitLab and is not only a proponent of a hybrid work approach, but she also practices it. She describes how it not only benefits individual professionals but also the towns they live in. Check out her fascinating story wherever you listen to podcasts.

On the left in this photo is Jack, my dog. When his older "rescue brother" Henry passed away 2 years ago, I decided to buy a guitar that would carry Henry's spirit. This Gretsch leapt out at me as "the one."

I asked ChatGPT: if the entire human population of the world stood shoulder to shoulder in a crowd, how much of the earth would this take up if space/person = 0.5 sq meters. Its answer was ~1500 square miles - the size of Qatar, Luxembourg or Delaware. Does this sound feasible?

When events and get-togethers occur, they come up against a big problem – people’s time. We’re just not as available as we used to be, and we don’t always want to go. My CoolTimeLife podcast: http://bit.ly/3sM5eqd or LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/p...

Rich people don't like giving poor people money because they expect those poor people to do what the rich people do, which is to hide it offshore. Instead poor people use it to buy food, pay rent, buy schoolbooks, etc., in other words the money recycles through them into other parts of the economy.

A Starlink satellite deployment over the Toronto area, September 1, 2023, 10:15 p.m. ET. Photo taken by me on an iPhone 12. I love how this technology is helping the world, especially people in places out of reach of regular connectivity.

Take a bathroom sponge and compress it in your hand. Once you let go, it re-expands to its original size. Your thinking brain is similar to this. Stress limits the space available for creative thought. Check out episode 15 of CoolTimeLife here http://bit.ly/3L2sbeY or wherever.

What happens when a rockstar CEO becomes the face of the company? It might seem good for PR, but maybe not so much for great leadership long term. Check out my interview with expert & author Thomas Keil on Ep. 54 of the CoolTimeLife podcast. https://bit.ly/3qGAYfI
