Wednesday after Wednesday at sewing bee, I sewed blue buttons, and I sewed star buttons… until last Wednesday. The quilt is called “And Justice for All.“ For my fellow number geeks, I wracked my brain, trying to figure out how to fit 52 stars on the blue field of the partial United States flag…

At upper left of this quilt, is a filet crochet panel, featuring the Liberty Bell with dates 1776 - 1918 across the top, and the word “liberty” across the bottom. A white crocheted arrow points to the right, to another, smaller filet crochet panel, with the words “and beyond.” Under the smaller panel, and extending out toward the right a little way, is a United States flag, with truncated stripes. 52 white star-shaped buttons are arranged on the blue area of the flag, in four sets of 13. The stars are arranged like the 13 stars on the Great Seal of the United States, are arranged in a six-pointed star shape, with one star on top, four stars on the next row, three stars in the middle row, four stars in the fourth row, and one star at the bottom. The rows of stars in each 13-star grouping are centered, vertically. Above the two crocheted panels is a row of colorful strips of fabric, in colors of the pride flag, the trans pride flag, the suffrage flag, colors of people, and Kwanzaa colors...

You have to mine through the whole big pile of crochet-by-the-pound to find a gem like this. The bullion stitch grapes are exquisite. Not sure what I’m going to do with this doily—maybe just let it amaze me from time to time.❤️

This is a patchwork quilt in fabrics of purple, pink, and gold. The centerpiece is a doily, embellished with gold buttons, and surrounded by laurel leaves, crocheted in metallic gold thread. Above the centerpiece, are the words “you are” created in patchwork. Below the centerpiece, the word “worthy,” likewise in patchwork. The whole thing is bordered with broad piano keys patches, in a random-ish arrangement of the main colors of the quilt.

i aim to finish this mini quilt in time for my next Celebrate Doilies quilt exhibit at the Quilt Hop in Bonham. TX, at the end of July. Hope to see you there!

I still need to quilt, bind, and appliqué flowers and leaves to this sweetie. And add as many buttons as possible, as usual.

A rectangular, pieced quilt top with piano keys border lies on a stone background. On both long sides, the border changes from greens at the lower edge, to reds, and finally to blue. Across the top, the darkest blue is in the middle, shading to lighter blues to left and right. Couple of Fridays ago, I did a little knitting at Bennu Coffee, while waiting for my daughter who was at a job interview. Bennu has an entire mocha menu. I chose the Don Quixote, made with Mexican cinnamon-y chocolate. I recommend!

Happy Worldwide Knit in Public Day! Since our county is pretty small population-wise, all thread and yarn crafters are invited to join us this morning at Indian Creek Coffee, in Comanche, TX. I’m hoping to get this shawl finished, while we visit and enjoy delicious coffee!❤️🧶☕️
