I’ve seen folks lamenting the “drama” here recently. And while I totally get that some folks may be conflict-averse, framing the problem as “drama” puts the blame equally on folks instigating harassment and abuse and on people pushing back. If the harassment would stop, there would be no drama.

A reminder: tone policing is when someone ignores your main argument to complain about peripheral stuff like the emotion with which you expressed your point. When someone points out that your core content was racist, ableist, misogynist, transphobia, or otherwise harmful., that’s not tone policing.
