If you are learning kanji or hanzi, I would strongly advise you to write them
Even if you think you will never *need* to write them, writing is a powerful tool for remembering
Without writing I think there is a psychological distance from the language

Airports.
The travel itself is tedious
But the flow of human beings is how I want everywhere to feel. All nationalities, shades of skin, languages, and religions. Being people.

Don't follow any language advice that tells you:
"master this skill completely before moving on"
"memorize these words 100% before reading"
etc

go for it!
