Fascinating to hear this Republican state senator arguing for more industry regulation, and calling out big pharma campaign contributions to his peers as the road block. Perhaps time for Virginia to have some campaign finance restrictions??

“Throughout this process, the administration has brushed aside serious questions concerning their lack of authority to take this action, and ignored the thousands of Virginians who have steadfastly opposed this misguided process,” said SELC Attorney.

Pressuring the legislature to kill SB994 (creating VADOC Ombudsman) is not how this should work—if the Governor wants it dead, he should veto it.

And the legislative branch should be much more careful about protecting its constitutionally-given powers, and not cede them to the executive branch.

Unanimous vote in Finance on Delegate Lopez
bill to give refundable tax credit (up to $300) for buying gun safety devices/safes. House budget has an amendment to cover expected fiscal impact, but Senate budget doesn't. So if this passes floor, will be part of budget negotiations.

Senate Finance and Appropriations kills House version of corporate tax giveaway and business interest deduction; and top tax bracket tax cut. (This is consistent with their budget, which does not contain such a giveaway and instead invests that money into K-12 education and other underfunded areas.)

Senate passes on a bipartisan vote, bill to end the use of solitary confinement in VA correctional facilities. This bill does not quite match the House version, which passed unanimously yesterday. It is somewhat broader I believe. But there is at least support to pass something.
