Painting I did years ago. It is a winter scene. There are tree trunks on the right and the left leading to the background, where there is a house, you see steps to the front door and a light is shining above the door. A few windows on the house are seen. There is snow on the ground in drifts and the path of snow leading to the house has shadows. Some snow has stuck to the tree trunks. The overall feeling is of cold and a tan, white colour palette.

#Birdsong #Merlin

I was out for a bit this morning around 5:00 am, it is quite cool and cloudy but there were quite a few birds. These are the birds I heard in about 20 minutes using Merlin.
Surprised there were no ravens. I think they take off en masse for the city in the morning.

This is the best I have to represent earth, with mountains, trees, grasses, and water.

A painting I did years ago. A partial area of Bannerman Castle, a military surplus warehouse, abandoned since the 1950s and the weeds have taken over.

It has been abandoned since the 1950s.
This painting shows some stairs, with many green plants/weeds on them. Red bricks that make up part of the walls on the left. The stairs lead up between tower-like structures.

So years ago, when I turned 30, my sister mailed me a gift, as she was living out of the province.
It was a paper plate covered in cling film and a few marbles were on that plate.
The note read,
In case you lose yours.

I'm not sure whatever happened to that thoughtful gift. 🤣

An original painting from my mind, using references from various pictures of the two bears. 273 and Velcro are the bears in the painting, draped over a waterfall I had painted previously.
I had this painting put on T-shirts years ago to give to my family as gifts.

The earthquake that was felt around the NYC NJ area and beyond is quite scary for those who are not used to this type of activity. Hope everyone is alright.

Where I live they are daily. And we always expect the Big One.
We had three very small yesterday, one I felt as the ground rolled.

In 2024, British Columbia has had 297 quakes of magnitudes up to 4.0:
1 quake above magnitude 4
8 quakes between magnitude 3 and 4
66 quakes between magnitude 2 and 3
222 quakes below magnitude 2 that people normally don't feel.
Look up all recent and past quakes!

I like to think this is fields of lavender, ripe for the picking as I love lavender.

It is autumn. There is a pale beige building in the background with many small windows. Painting from reference. Part of the back of the Hotel del Salto in Cundinamarca, Colombia, approx. 30 km from Bogotá.
This private home turned hotel in 1928 was a popular place for visitors to stay. In 1990 the hotel closed due to such bad pollution of the water.

Painting I did years ago. A small part of the City Hall subway in New York City. Decommissioned in 1945, there are tours.
Steel was used in the construction and of course, the rails are steel.
It is considered one of the most beautiful subways in the world.

Painting I did of part of the City Hall subway in New York City. The building started in 1900. The painting shows a small curved section of the track, and waiting area, the stairs are on the left, and the arching skylights are glass with a pattern of steel. Vaulted tile ceilings with yellow tile accents. Brass light fixtures hang from the ceiling.

Years ago when my daughter was young I did a lot of baking. I could not afford a lot of cookbooks so I would go to the library and take out promising books and copy any recipes I wanted to try.
I came across this wonderful cookie recipe in the Fannie Farmers Cookbook.

I finished this Canada Reads 2024 pick the other day. So far I have read three of the five books.
I enjoyed The Future, by Catherine Leroux, translated from French by Susan Ouriou.

Not too bad, had to keep up with the health of the characters, so you only really were doing damage with two, sometimes one. So unfair that bosses get 2 hits sometimes this one had more. But I did it, now on to the next portion of the game.
