Been fighting a war in my garden the last couple of weeks: BUNNIES.
They've eaten ALL the echinacea & teasel I grow to feed songbirds
AND THE PARSLEY
Someone on Reddit told me about Irish Spring being effective
I'm gonna grate this shit like cheese all over my garden
bunnies will be blowing bubbles

From Kyle Griffin: Save the date: Adding to Trump's cluttered calendar, a Wisconsin judge has set a Sept. 3, 2024 start date — just two months before Election Day — for the jury trial in the lawsuit seeking $2.4 million in damages from Wisconsin's fake Republicans electors.

Rediscovered the names of two TB irises I'd bought but lost the tags of, thanks to Google Lens and @W4TERLILY !
1. Rio Rojo, bred by Schreiner, Registered in 2009

Thanks to @W4TERLILY it has now been identified!
Tall Bearded Iris, "Alcazar", bred in France in 1908 by Vilmorin; introduced in theVilmorin-Andrieu & Cie, catalogue de plantes 1918 - during WW1!
That means that my two earliest irises are both French in origin. Here's Sans Souci, introduced 1854:

Anyone good at iris identification?? I've got me a mystery. Iris was here when we bought the house.
It was here w/ another iris, heirloom Sans Souci.
Base of foliage on Mystery Iris is NOT purple. Runs between 26-30" tall depending on how much rain we get and when. Rhizomes. Looks like a neglecta?

It's officially Tall Bearded Iris Season here at the cottage! These two are Celtic Skies, and Celtic Tartan. Celtic Tartan, the bloom you see here, measures 8cm/7in across. The scent is exquisite.

People love those galvanized stock tanks for raised gardens, because of the aesthetic - but practically speaking, y'all gonna burn the crap out of your shins/knees on a hot day leaning over to harvest/water anything

It is the year of our Beyonce 2023 and I am SO DONE with "medical professionals" acting ass-ignorant of basic germ theory trying to tell me it's safe to walk into a hospital full of maskless people for testing.

Found and identified a native wildflower in my yard yesterday that I'd never seen here before:
Erigeron pulchellus — Robin's plantain fleabane
the key to the ident was the stems and the leaves. Hardly any serration to the leaves, and the stems were not green but purplish. #wildflowers

An exchange w/ friends yakking about the Con-A-Nation:
Me: WTF is Chucky *wearing*? What's that purple schmatta? It's giving King Friday from Mr. Rogers' Neighbourhood. I thought they spent £250 on this?
K: KING FRIDAY WOULD NEVER

PM report: Ruby-crowned Kinglet is back, and a new sighting: Brown Creeper, Certhia americana!
We're in the year round range for Brown Creeper, but I don't know if this one is migrating further north or is part of our "local borb collective". #MerlinBirdID #birdwatching

Dr. Uché Blackstock nails it right here.
There was an opportunity, and two US administrations from BOTH parties caved to Big Money and abandoned us to death, disability, and despair.

Hey Ocean Frens -
If you're looking to plant Beautyberry in your yard (they're fun, berries are crazy purple, birds love them, people can eat them too)... & you live in USDA Zone 5?
Don't get Callicarpa americana.
Get Callicarpa dichotoma, the Asian cultivar instead, it'll survive Zone 5 winters

2023 Dems: We want to work together in the spirit of bipartisanship...
2023 GOP: We set fire to and sunk the bipartisanship in the 1990s, don't you remember?
Sen. Wyden et al, wake tf up. The pre-Gingrich era is not coming back.
