As one of the marginalized, medically vulnerable who hasn't been able to be in public safely for four years of pandemic, who is now unable to get critical healthcare b/c of Biden's gutting of the PHE & Public Health funding, I'm already living in an openly fascist state. Passive eugenics IS fascist.

Didn't say I was, didn't say I would vote red.
I'm saying that I'm tired of people telling me that the Dems are the solution when they are also part of the problem
I'm saying everyone is shitty here
both sides want a lot of us dead - racists & eugenicist bigots in both parties. I'll vote D w/o trust

Next week we're hitting the 80s again. It's seasonal today, we *might* hit 63F for a high? 40s at night, great sleeping weather.

First time ever I bought shade cloths this yr for my veg beds, because I had lettuce failures last yr when heat hit us too early.

I'll grow melons if it'll be this hot

Oh my goodness - that's crazy early. What region of the country are you in?

We had a heatwave week in southern New England about 3wks ago. Yesterday morning we had a freeze warning, after two days of Red Flag and Fire Weather warnings.

Our roses are blooming early. It's nuts.

What I'm finding is, as I incorporate more drought-tolerant species into my gardens, they flourish better in less rich, less dense soil. So I'm amending in those areas that need it, and keeping "feeding" to the odd scattering of comfrey leaves or nettle tea.

My area has sandy loam, so I've not had a need of it when planting direct (ie shrubs). However I definitely found I needed sand when we trucked in "loam" for our raised beds had too much clay in it. Sand added is good for xeriscape beds if your soil is too rich for lavender/centaurea/rosemary etc.

Share widely!

The US FDA approval bottleneck, and the politicization of it, is keeping us from getting updated tests that they have in Europe. Added to that Big Pharma buying out small players (like Lucira) to continue controlling the market.

I was buying Lucira tests during Omicron before they were bought out by Pfizer.

Just put in an order for Fluorecare tests from Germany - the shipping is RIDICULOUS but tests are worth it: it's a 4 virus test: Covid, Flu A & B, and RSV test.

I get that people are tired and overworked but basic duty of care means pay the frick attention, especially in the case of a patient that cannot effectively advocate for themselves.

Teachers often react like this when faced with learning something new from their students. Ill-adjusted teachers can feel threatened and will try to assert their authority/intelligence by gatekeeping & putting down the student.

How is the CDC now better equipped for future pandemics? IT ISN'T EVEN HANDLING *THIS* ONE.

There's a culture there now of:
-no community testing
-no tracking of cases on local, state, federal levels
-DELIBERATELY HIDING DATA
-DELIBERATELY RIGGING MAPS OF OUTBREAKS
-BAD SCIENCE re: quarantining

Of course the damage is done, people are criminalizing mask wearing in the US and Canada, just in time for the next variant of concern to cause a new crisis.

We need sterilizing vaccines and prophylactic treatments that don't turn us into reservoirs/virus factories.

Oh, yikes!

Here in New England we had drought last summer. Watered everything with clay ollas. Cabbage failed but got purple jalapeño, tomatoes in ok. Drought in winter (almost no snow pack), and a fire danger wk in April was wild. Now it's seasonally cool, very wet. Radish & Carrots started.
