My #awamori of the week is a special Seifuku expression made not with long-grain rice from Thailand (as is the norm) but Okinawa-harvested Hitomebore Japanese rice. The result is softer and milder than your typical 30% ABV awamori with a floral nose. Sipping it mizuwari. Kari-!

It’s now just before 7 AM in Japan, and helicopters are providing eyes in the sky to assess the extent of the damage as the sun comes up. We can clearly see plumes of white smoke and buildings that have completely toppled over. #japan #earthquake #tsunami

The #tsunami warning for Noto (Ishikawa Pref.) has been reduced slightly, but it is still imperative to stay away from the coast. A 1 meter tsunami may not sound like much, but Japan’s Cabinet Office stresses that “If you are caught in a 1-meter tsunami, you will almost certainly die.” #earthquake

My #awamori of the week is Oki no Hikari Premium (30% ABV). Crafted on Miyako Island in Okinawa, it has a ton of long-aged awamori in it, giving it a deep, rich profile with hints of maple syrup and salinity. Sipping it mizuwari. Kari-!
