29 years ago today my cousin, Cartney walked into the federal building in Oklahoma City to change her last name. She had married her sweetheart days before. I know I can never be happy and I make things all about race, but I just purchased a coffee table book of Ebony magazine covers.

It takes me back to a time where there was a place where we determined the writers, stories, the ads, and cover models.

Ebony was iconic in Black homes for decades.
