Sometimes I have to really search for an image to match the day’s theme and sometimes it just pops into my head. When I read hanging, I immediately thought of these guys.

A group of a dozen bats hanging from small tree branches. Most of them are tightly wrapped in their wings and peacefully sleeping, but one is partially stretched out, as if to reposition themselves into a more comfortable pose. Small green leaves are interspersed among the branches and the sky is whited out.

Finding an intersection between #pinkwednesday and #dailypicturetheme #metal was a challenge.
Great Golden Digger Wasp (Sphex ichneumoneus) on Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)
I only pulled a muscle a little on that stretch!

Against a background of green milkweed leaves, the lower right section of the image is a plant with multiple pink flowers and some unopened buds in a round cluster. On the top of the flower is a large wasp with orange on half of the abdomen and orange legs, the rest including the tip of the abdomen is black.

I think this vibrantly pink flower in the Dye Garden is a zinnia but I’m not 100%. It’s by a sign that says marigold, but yellow marigolds are on the other side of it. Also, marigolds are good for dyeing. 🤔

DYE GARDEN
The Dye Garden includes plants used in the past and present in coloring natural fibers such as wool, cotton, linen and silk. Depending on the plant, different parts are used, including flowers, fruit, roots and leaves. The dye-producing part of the plant is boiled to extract the dye. Before the fiber is dyed, it is important to treat it with a mordant to make the dye more permanent. Natural dyes offer subtle, earthy colors.
