Was going to hike along the ocean but now there's a fallen tree blocking part of my route. TBH, it's starting to feel like none of my usual hiking spots are safe because trees keep coming down. Including in our immediate neighborhood.

Lockdown drills are traumatic for kids and teachers and with each school shooting, they become even more so. I hate that this book is needed, but collectively closing our eyes because we hate the idea of something isn't going to help.

I love all the joy and wonder coming out of California with the snow. I grew up covered in snow in Minnesota, but that doesn't keep me from marveling over the sights. Stood and stared at the mountains on my hike today for a full five minutes.
