Week 5 of my knee replacement journey
Been working on increasing my walking distance. I can go a bit over a mile but it is difficult. Oddly not due to pain but the mental effort to try and walk with a normal gait. Still feels as if there is a tight elastic band wrapped around my knee.

3 weeks into knee replacement journey
Seeing many functional improvements this week. Able to go up stairs with new knee but not down yet, socks and shoes are easier to get on.

My PT therapist says I’m doing great, able to bend knee to 124 degrees. Still have some swelling below the knee.

Staples out today!!! All 42. Which means I can now shower!! Oh man, did that shower feel good.

They put on steri-strips which will fall off in about a week. I was told the steri-strips are more for show than really holding the incision together.

Exciting day today, first trip out of the house! Just a short ride to my first out patient PT session. Per my therapist I’m doing really well, he massaged the leg to help get the lymphatic system going to drain out all of the blood and fluids.

1 week in on my knee replacement journey.
I’m only going to post every couple of days. Not very exciting. Healing is laying with leg above heart, up every hour for walking, knee bending, ice knee every couple of hours, rinse and repeat.

The leg is really showing the bruising now. Swelling is normal according to my PT. Takes about 2 weeks for it to return to normal.

Settling into a routine now. Told I can only sit for no more than 2 hrs/day. Must keep the knee higher than my heart to help with swelling. However, free to walk as much as I can. So, binging on Succession laying on the couch with elevated leg.
