you 'completely disagree' that "one party is clearly better than the other"?
because that *is* what was written
the criticism is if you're only looking the current 'R versus D' tribalism you're missing the bigger, centuries-long picture
and feeding an 'us-versus-them' framework benefiting few

It's been going on since colonial times, the promotion of hate and inequality as a means of maintaining the economic order.
Sure, one party is clearly better than the other, but R versus D is just another flavor of the same sht sundae being served to the plebeians for centuries.

cheese grits (with some hot sauce or jalapeno) are a good side for any dinner, especially barbeque
you'll also run into cooled-and-sliced-then-fried polenta - similar to grits - served up as part of an entree

it's always worser when it's happening in a big media market versus 'flyover country'
a snowstorm in the upper Midwest is OMG SNOWPOCALYPSE when it hits New York
now this
at least there's more attention being put on the climate change underlying what's happening
for now

i'm not big on writing people off
caveat to all this is that some people are unreachable
and willfully refuse to even consider changing or moderating their views
as they have too much of themselves invested and to do so would crack their egos
good conversation, btw. thanks for this

it is a disagreement, albeit a *very* mild one
'conservatives' meeting those criteria maybe aren't mythical like unicorns, more like white rinos
- pun intended -
but they exist
and exposing them to opinions contradicting their own helps them recognize what's wrong with their values

will respectfully disagree
there's room for anyone as long as they're acting in good faith, are capable having their opinions change by arguments grounded in reason and evidence, and don't come from a place of hate
problem is finding 'conservatives' that fit those criteria

there's a few sites that analyze news and opinion media i use if i'm unsure about source bias or accuracy or good-faith analysis
- allsides.com/media-bias
- adfontesmedia.com
- mediabiasfactcheck.com/search
Poynter has a decent article discussing use of sites like these:

opinions on Trump are pretty well set
either CNN won't ask the questions or Trump won't discuss ongoing litigation
any contention only works in Trump's favor
he will beat up on CNN
Trump will own the day's news cycle
and his base will continue to adore him

i think Bluesky is banking on its Mastodon-like federated approach to social media somehow making harassment less of an issue
i also think they are wrong, as decentralization has its own issues with usability, content moderation, and user safety
good social media can't really be mostly hands-off
