I had a meeting today with the local police department. They have an officer who works with community members whose loved ones may need their services. They also have a social worker assigned to the station. I feel a little better about the possibility we may need to call.

One passing comment sticks in my mind: a reference to “rioting “ during the George Floyd protests. She uses the word rioting, not protesting.
The police rioted. Some people took advantage of the chaos to commit crimes. Right wing provocateurs were seen to cause damage blamed on protesters.
