thread 3 Threaded Spouts
Every good #segasaturn fan knows about the 1MB and 4MB Extended RAM Carts that helped boost the console's memory for ports of 2D arcade fighters.*

What you might not know, however, is that they were preceded by two special ROM carts that each only worked with one game.

Latest on the "Mega Drive / Genesis games I've beat in 2023" list is Verytex, a Japan-only release from Asmik.

Starts out kinda fun, as a competent but not overly exciting shooter. By the end, however, the game totally falls apart. Definitely not worth the price it now goes for.

After never playing the home “port” in my younger days, beat Shadow Dancer for 1st time the other night. Not one of the harder games, but did it as 1CC on non-shuriken, which ain’t bad.

Really neat game. I like how the stages are shorter, and more about skill than stamina.

With talk going on about the term #jrpg , its place in modern gaming, and the potential negative connotations behind it, I wanted to give some insight into how the term came to be—and why its existence was born out of a love for what Japanese developers had to offer the world.
