I just started a reread of the anthology, released January 2023, which contains my first published fiction
I took a writing workshop with Lawrence Block in 2020, and in 2021 he asked me to submit a short story "in any genre or none" about a game
The writers with whom I share a cover are humbling

Frantic end to the match as Louisville take the lead after a fast counter and scramble 5 minutes into an added 10
Then Lavelle, making her Gotham debut as a sub, guided home the equalizer on 98
There were more chances before the whistle
Would have been incomprehensible to lose this one

Avri @nycavri0 - 0 at halftime between #GothamFC and #RacingLoisville and it's been all Gotham06:04 PM - Apr 28, 2024
The visitors have had to withstand waves of pressure, but to date have got a boot on every goal bound shot (including what looked like from my seat a clearance off the line)
Action is in front of me 2nd half

Just finished reading Blood of my Blood by @mcgarrygirl78
An effortlessly entertaining read. The reader is thrown into an almost familiar world and simply has to keep moving or be left behind. The action is plentiful but it is the complex relationships that stick with you after the last page.

Every now & then a high school teacher finds me & asks permission to mount my play "A Rustle of Wings" (a metaphor for embracing your inner beauty-queerness-specialness). Here is a photo one sent me from Salem HS, NH a year ago today.

Formula 1 update -
#F1
Although the next GP is still a week away, there have been some updates off-track that I think is worth discussing.
The first bit of news was about Adrian Newey, chief designer of Red Bull Racing, looking to leave the team. The news first broke on Thursday.

Any documentary filmmakers looking for a project?

Most commentary I see about the conflict in Israel and responses in the US makes me itch. I haven't read all the news, nor do I know all the answers. But I've read enough to know complications and nuance are just lost on some people, and that makes me worried, not just for Nov., but generally.

It's going to sound off, but start with Volume 4, Season of Mists
The first volumes have growing pains, like the fact that DC tried to tie it into the superhero continuity that was current at the time
(I was handed Season of Mists in 1992, devoured it in a night, ended up working in comics retail)

I re-read as much as I read new. If I've fallen in love with characters and a place, I want to re-visit because I really miss them.

I've never had that experience
I've occasionally had a book I want to copy edit for grammar and logic errors
But more often I read a book that has a phrase that's so well written it makes me angry (I'm looking at you, Mike Carey)

I'm a rereader
I have hundreds of new books in my nook and on my shelves, and yet I have books I reread regularly, and am currently midway through several series rereads
It's a terrible business model, but I can think of at least one great series that only works on rereading

I love my nook (the eReader was about the only tech I was an early adopter on) for the fact that I can travel with a library of hundreds
But I still love the feel of dead tree (and keeping local bookstores in business)

My first job out of university was at a comic book store in Brighton
My first job back in NYC was managing the legendary St. Mark's Comics in the East Village
My favorite is Peter Milligan and Duncan Fegredo's The Enigma
(The *best* however? That's Terry Moore's Motor Girl)

It's just absurd
Everyone watching on TV can see how random the home plate ump calls are
It's like goal line technology in soccer - the tech already exists and is in use
Why are we guessing?
"Tradition?"
Stop it
