First long run in awhile; felt strong until last couple miles, but gonna feel it tomorrow. Also bummed that new bakery was closed (only open on weekends? gah).

Thanks to Apple for the notice about a price increase; I had forgotten to cancel.

Realized my new camera required signing, so pretty high chance I'd miss them even though I work from home (buzzer on the fritz, assuming they even hit the right one). So, figured I'd do pre-holiday-travel car cleaning (namely, windows). And FedEx promptly showed up (he was equally happy). Woot!

I want better terms than left & right. Some on the left are blatantly antisemitic &/or think what I'm fighting for–equity, equality, justice–are "distractions." Not to mention Mao, Stalin, Castro, etc. were supposedly "leftists." Might go with democratic v. authoritarian; or maybe just good v. evil.

Gah, can't find my old favorite running jacket. My other ones are either waterproof (not great breathability) or too lightweight once it's around freezing (like now). Ironically been shopping for a new one, but haven't settled on anything yet.

One nice aspect of working the front half of a holiday week is it tends to be quiet, so a good time to catch up on tasks that often get pushed back due to constant feature churn. Perf improvements, R&D, etc.

Almost comical how much faster things install on my current (2021) rig compared to my old (2011) one. Early gen SATA SSD vs NVMe SSD, more/faster CPU cores, more + faster memory, etc, but guessing the storage + processing are the primary drivers. Next build will be far more incremental.

Reviewing breaking changes for this year's .NET release (as one does on a Friday evening) and nice to see they are finally making the CLI commands to create library packages and publish applications to use the release config vs debug.

Whenever given the option, I kill autoplay. Of course, services like youtube will magically "forget" and turn it back on. At least normally it's the same channel or something similar; just watched a UNC bball preview... and then it autoplayed PBS Kids thanksgiving crap. Wrong. Audience.

Had a mystery workflow bug that I couldn't make heads or tails of (no obvious pattern, etc). Finally had a breakthrough and pretty sure I've figured out the root cause. I mean, still need to fix it and give it time to see if it's truly good, but better than yesterday.

Just realized my remaining Covid tests expire next month (with the extended expiration dates), so just ordered some free ones. Good to have for end of year holidays/travels.

Looks at heavy wool socks, heaviest weight sweatpants I own, sweatshirt, etc.

It's a mystery!

Fiber connection with oodles of bandwidth, but TV has no ethernet, just wifi, so sometimes finicky depending on neighbors etc. Super annoying, but hate buying a new one when it's otherwise fine.

Covid + flu shots done; looks like Thanksgiving should be a good turnout this year, so definitely preferred to get it before then with people coming in from all over.

Note on form for scheduling an appointment to call in case of x; I call, go through menu options, get a human, they say x is always available regardless. Back to form. I'm no usability expert, but...

I guess no way to edit alt text when editing a spout? That's a bummer; mild typo on last one, but still would like to fix without having to delete + repost.

My mom was excited when the rubella vaccine was first available because it was a bout with rubella that nearly killed her, and left her with a permanent heart murmur.
Anti-vaxxers are a blight.

My mom has told me about her grandmother's excitement when the polio vaccine came out. Grandma Ida took a 3-hour bus trip just to be there when 5yo Mom and her siblings got the shot.

Grandma Ida had survived polio, with a permanent limp and leg weakness, but her older brother had died.

Pretty sure I never heard of our new manager for the Mets before today. Doesn't particularly mean anything good or bad, of course; bench coaches aren't typically household names.

Just a quick visit to my small local grocer and holy moly, their prices are up to double on some items (e.g. mayo was $12! a 15 pack of beer was $30, while often on sale for $15 at large grocer and $20 if not). I expect a slight markup, not that.

Leftover candy mostly in the freezer, so in theory out of sight out of mind. But also hoping to get back to long runs and extended photo hikes on weekends, so having them on standby not the worst idea.
