I really wish Ron Filipkowski was here on Spoutible. I don't want to have to go over to that other site to see all of the great things he will find and share. #TrumpIndicted #IndictmentDay

Just saw a YT ad supporting succession of Eastern Oregon counties to “Greater Idaho” by acknowledging the blue western half would be better off not financially supporting East Oregon.

About the only thing I can contribute: My master’s thesis was about social media and the future of democracy given the past Supreme Court decisions about the 1st Amendment. Short answer: it’s a conundrum!
I guess I didn’t steer the convo elsewhere!
I continue to think about this, btw.

Another week off! Ready to come back to work next week and get reporting on our next election (in May), mostly school boards. It all starts with the schools.

Unpopular opinion (probably around here), but I use Full Self Driving every day. Today, it will drive about 250 miles. It's brilliant. Does turns, roundabouts flawlessly. Scoots over for pedestrians and cyclists.
Does that mean I believe Elon is a genius in other fields. No. No I do not.

Made a little kid think. A boy, maybe 3, approached me @ the library &asked, “Why do you wear a mask.”
“Because I don’t want to get sick. It protects me.”
So he thought for a moment and asked his mom why she didn’t wear one. Her answer? Because I choose not to.
Could hear wheels spinning

Said something logical on that other app and now the delusional (and one antisemitic) Qs are attacking. Le sigh. (And no, I don’t feed the trolls)

A really great deep dive on so-called “cancel culture.” (Hint: it’s not really a thing)

Hint: when sharing an article found on Twitter, copy and paste the underlying URL, not the Twitter link to the article. Publications need to see that Spoutible is driving its own traffic. :-)

Week off over. 😢 but mission accomplished:
Binge-watched a show ☑️
Read a book ☑️
Finished crocheting a blanket ☑️
Ran 10 miles ☑️
Attended an art gallery reception ☑️
Caught up on favorite podcasts and found a new one to love (Death of an Artist)
Ate delicious French fries 🍟
Refreshed!

"Lügenpresse," which translates to "lying press," was a popular slogan used in the Third Reich.
"Fake news" is a popular slogan used by the far-right.
Despite being almost a century apart, both terms are used for the same purpose - discredit dissent & undermine public trust

It’s kind of a relief to heart spouts freely. At that other site, I do consider the algorithm and will heart things half-heartedly (pun intended!) just to see more of a topic or not heart things I truly liked but don’t necessarily want to see more of.
Here, I can just be genuine.

I don’t understand parents who turn their backs on their children if they’re LGBTQ. A couple years ago, my daughter came out as bi. It changed nothing for me. I love my kids unconditionally. My only hope is that they are all happy, and that whoever they choose to love loves them as much as I do.
