Does anyone else ever have the sensation, deep into adulthood, that you're just playing house? Like here I am, just cooking my little meals and putting them on my little dishes

Parenting via the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Age of Ultron edition: 9yo is going through a spate of hypochondria. I tell him "your brain is really smart. Like Ultron smart. It can send you all sorts of messages about what your body is feeling... 1/2

#DailyPictureTheme #Place @DailyPictureTheme

Been learning about liminal spaces and their effect on people lately. Road trips always get me thinking about these impromptu landscapes that fail to impart a sense of #place , as well as all the people who keep them humming along for passersthrough.

This guy can't decide whether he'd rather be a scarf, a hat, or fused directly to the side of my face for sleeping-in purposes.

I would never deny that I was busy and overwhelmed at intervals as a childless person. But I will say that, since kids, there's no such thing as a day when I can hole up and play video games from dawn until dusk, and I long for this madly

thread 11 Threaded Spouts
They have been wrong in every recent election cycle, yet they continue to cite the same polls using the same flawed methodologies. At this point, it is either willful ignorance or a calculated strategy. It's disingenuous to rebuke polls on election night but then return to citing the same polls.

In closing, Democrats shouldn't replace President Biden or VP Harris, nor should Democrats panic because of inaccurate polls using outdated methodologies. Dance with who brought you, and use the advantage of the bully pulpit. Biden and Harris will not cost you the election, but dysfunction will.

I really, dearly wish that I was more like everyone else in my family, who experiences the unstructured downtime of a holiday weekend as a chance to relax, rather than feeling like I'm going to crawl out of my skin if I have to sit still for one more minute

I really wish we could stop doing "Happy Mother's Day" with strangers in retail settings and random encounters. I have been wished a HMD several times this week while out *without my children*. Personally I find it creepy and it's potentially painful for folks for so many reasons.

I have this beautiful photo from class today I wish I could share, but it's full of identifying info, so: picture 6 college students gathered around a desk, listening raptly as their classmate reads them a picture book in Spanish about how dinosaurs manage their emotions. 🧵

Me to my checked-out class: If you could stop time for 30 minutes RIGHT NOW, what would you do with it?
Students: catch up on hw/take a nap before work/grab a cup of coffee/meal prep
Me: Class dismissed. Go do that thing you said.

Try this and watch them revive and relax before your very eyes.

Now that I've finally read You Look Like a Thing And I Love You by Janelle Shane, I need someone to make a movie about a dystopian future where everyday people defeat our supposed robot overlords by outsmarting them with tech like doors and hats and laser-pointer cat toys

Just reminding everyone to leave a pile of fish heads and mouse entrails on your front stoop tonight so that the Superb Owl will visit your house and leave guacamole in your shoes

There's not much about me that makes me the target of hatred and vitriol on the bird app. I'm a middle-aged cis white woman. But amid the tremendous sense of joy and relief on this platform I want to take a moment to mourn what I loved abt it over there before it was willfully, wrathfully broken. 🧵

Had a great time practicing fashion vocab in 2nd semester Spanish today by creating a bracket for Grammy looks, then imagined trying on, buying and selling one another prendas from the red carpet. Laverne Cox was our uncontested champion in case you were wondering!
