Fresh ground coffee, home-made waffles with peaches from my bytes, real male syrup, hand whipped cream, and eggs from my sister-
In-law for breakfast.

Last kid of 5 finished college yesterday. That ends 15 years of college tuition. At one point 4 at once!.

Life is not easy, but it is GOOD!

Q: how much would an IoT data collection app - to anonymously collect data via BT from IoT widgets you happen by - have to pay per month, on average, to make you willingly load it?

Think like Apple FindMy for AirTags, only with data collection.

Another great video by Eryngo Urbanism.

Okies especially should follow this guy. Young, motivated, and spreading solid messages.

Spent a week in Jersey City. Guess what? At least in the dense older town, traffic signals are on the near side of the intersection, as they are in Europe.

Still a lot of cars and parking, but car-lite households are prevalent, and car-free are increasingly common.

If you’re a supporter of “right to drive in impeded anywhere” but and you support socialized road-building yet you don’t support giving free cars to everybody who needs one, maybe you’re actually just interested in flexing your personal privilege over others.

Cars are elitist.

As our last kid begins their last semester of college, a mostly sweet “firsts and lasts” moment as our lives transition, I’m reminded of something my 2nd daughter said:

“There was a day when you picked me up and carried me for the last time as a child, and you didn’t even notice or remember it.”

At its core, modern patriotism is less about country and more about self. It’s not my country over yours as nationalism, either, but me over you all, and for a lot of you that aligns with nationalism.

Here at home, it means me over young people teachers, laws, other races, and genders.

First week of Jan I set an ambitious goal to lose 50lb by end of July. I create a purposeful plan and followed it (mostly).

As of today, goal achieved! Yesterday I hugged a mile at 90F temps, without stress.

I’m adding 10lbs for a new goal, since I have 6+ weeks left.

That’s all. Carry on.

This Memorial Day weekend I honor the 200 Powhatan Natives who were given poisoned wine during peace negotiations back in May 1623.

Again, you would’ve known this — had it been taught to you in school.

Just a routine reminder that suburbs suck wealth from cities, sprawling neighborhoods suck the wealth of suburbs, and cars suck the wealth of these suburban commuters.

What pays, tho? Worn light-industry “/commercial zones, tired retail areas, and shops in the old parts of town.

Can we simply outlaw 2-stroke lawn equipment? And add noise limits for the rest? No reason for such pollution anymore.

Down 45lbs toward a goal of 50lb. 90% there, since first week of Jan. Would be done already except for 3 weeks in Germany with beer, sausages, and schnitzel.

Time to start working on the maintenance approach - targeting 3 years to achieve a new set-point.

What if all traffic light automatically turned red when approached by a car going over the speed limit! Like a time-out for speeding. Might sometimes have both directions red, even!

Be deliberate about how you define your identity.

Values you choose? Great! Especially if they are “verbs” vs “nouns”.

Beliefs you hold? Poor. Beliefs should evolve.

Job you have? Not great. Jobs change. Careers can too.

Some day people will echo my spouts, if I figure out how to make good ones.

Meanwhile, this nun routinely rollerblades along the Beach near my home.. so that's kinda cool..

In general, the world much reinforces right-handedness. Right is “right” while left is “gauche” or “sinister” or “weak” in various languages, or at least “not right”. Left handedness has long been associated with demonic possession.

Just got back from a few weeks in Germany. It’s a car-embracing country, but the city I was in was had many decent transportation options. I chose not to rent a car.

A few observations:
- parking is expensive.
- transit is cheap
- no right on red makes a big difference
