In November 2021, #Storm Arwen swept across Northumberland, with winds of up to 98mph (158kmh) battering the county's woodlands. It is thought about one million trees were brought down in the storm. #dailypicturetheme

The iconic tree is a loss and the landscape has been changed forever since it was illegally felled.

There were four primary kinds of taxation in ancient Rome: a cattle tax, a land tax, customs, and a tax on the profits of any profession. These taxes were typically collected by local aristocrats. #tax #dailypicturetheme

There were 80 milecastles on Hadrian's Wall, one for every one Roman mile of the curtain Wall. Most guarded a gateway through the Wall with a corresponding causeway across the Wall ditch to the north, and had a garrison of perhaps 20–30 auxiliary soldiers housed in two barrack blocks.

Walkers on the Trail have to dig deep and #Press on, the up and down route, as they follow Hadrian's Wall in the central section. #dailypicturetheme The flatter route lies slightly to the south on the Military Way.
