A reason I'm devoting effort to understand the younger generation in America is because I think a great deal about the expanding population 60+ that's living longer. Opposite ends of an age distribution. Is there generational acrimony? Do they view me as a partner or a drain on their future?

When I look at these student protests, I wonder how many are hooking up, who's getting into the sack. It's college after all.

I didn't last as long as I wanted as a volunteer firefighter. The desire was there, but the life mechanics weren't. The continuous training was invaluable. Panic will get you killed. Think before you act. You don't know what you don't know. The team has to function as one with a clear plan.

I don't have guns. We are in no way, shape or form at a point where I feel I need a gun. I hurt myself with power tools. Yes, that's privilege to a degree, in a nation awash in so many damn guns. I still very much believe in America, flaws and all. I prefer the Now Me, not the future gun toing me.

The stray tuxedo cat survived the winter (winter 2). She didn't use the shelter I made. Found out two other houses help her. She was outside basking in the sun. Tabby and Bigboy were out too. They all formed an equilateral triangle, far apart. No hissing or yowling. Need two more for a pentagram.

Question. I dropped my The Guardian subscription a while back. The news was top notch, but some of the prominent op-ed members at the time took a turn toward TERF. Quite vocally as I recall. Has that situation improved?

Looking at the news sources. I had to sing the alphabet to myself. Yes, and the cats too. Though they just wanted treats.

I wonder if adjusting and making more use of the news sources, and the news tab in general, somehow finds its way into the Google ad system? I mostly tend to my Google ad experience externally, but every bit helps. Commence testing.

Imagine if Obama and Biden had rings that interlocked, and when placed together things like "Powers activate! Form of Gundam Tan Suit!" could happen, and lasers shot out like a disco ball, and Tom Cotton hid under his desk like a duck and cover drill? Yeah, me neither.

I tend to view myself as a conduit into Spoutible for things on the outside that are funny, horrible, all in between, that would otherwise disappear into the flood of one day passing to the next. Maybe you're the same. Raise a glass.

Google has a tool called Looker Studio (used to be Data Studio) that's available even to free, personal accounts. It works well with Google Sheets as a data store. Takes some getting used to, but worth it you're a casual, armchair tinkerer of data. Like board of elections data.

A big "Thank You!" to Jessica for sharing this. I would not have discovered it on my own. I watched it through once and will need to do so again. There's a lot here. I'll add to this spout thread later on. For now, I'm meeting my son and his friends for dinner later and have forwarded this to them.

The tabby will be energetically doing something no human can comprehend, come to a screeching halt, momentarily groom herself, then zoom off again.

Watching 'Apocalypse Now'. it makes me wonder if there are young people in the IDF now being thrown into situations that defy reason, expectation, mythology, and it's going to just chew them up. Of course there are. "Thanks for your service." War mostly hurts the young. Not exclusively. Mostly.

What we are seeing is the roll-up of the entire criminal network hitting the middle manager level. Even if the top guys don't get what we think they deserve, the mid-level guys are crushed without a deal.

If you've never seen Cartoon Network's animated series Regular Show, I do recommend it. It's weird, bizarre and absurd. But not unlike SpongeBob it contains very human themes in the writing. My kids taught me to appreciate it.

Season 3, Episode 12 was my first weekend at collage, sort of.

Absolutely agree. Modern life has built expectations of the immediate. What you want, when you want it. Social media is not just software though, its human community, and if history teaches us anything that doesn't happen overnight.
Joan H @JHunty
It’ll happen. There are so many people disbursed everywhere and still searching for a home.
I think Spoutible will be the true final Twitter replacement, but it’ll take a little building. For how short a time Spoutible has been here, we’ve already made huge gains compared to the original Twitter!

A friend asked me "Knowing what you do now, what would you have changed over the years?" I don't play shoulda, coulda, woulda. Waste of time and effort out of the 24 hours a day offers. Just me, your outlook will vary. However, I did offer up "Don't be afraid to ask for help."

Karen Springer @Springer
I'm not on trial for election interference, so I'm gonna crack open a cold beer and watch the birds munch on suet. That blue jay that started showing up eats too much, though.
But, I digress.

Not everyone has the physical ability to get to the polls and that is exactly why mail in voting was created.
Lisa P. @FranticCrafter
That's exactly why I refuse to vote by mail. I want to go to the polls in person & cast my vote. They will not intimidate me.
