I'm just gonna throw this out there as someone who works in the IT/security space:

If you have a camera (or device with a camera) in your bedroom, bathroom, or anywhere else you don't want the world to see you, then you need a reality check, big-time. Nothing is secure. NOTHING.

That's nice: #Amazon -owned #nest employees & their contractors have been caught accessing indoor cams, particularly those labeled "Master Bedroom" & "Master Bathroom". This isn't the first time indoor technologies have been used by their manufacturers to spy on users.
This WILL NOT STOP until

I have a Nest camera to check my dogs when I’m out. I know when the light flashes that it’s in watch mode. A few times I saw it do this when hubs & I were home. 👀 It freaked me out and I put a towel over it while we’re here now. Creepy.

Oh, I'm well aware. But the risks of not having a GrannyCam outweigh the risks of having one. The perv in the room is more dangerous than the perv online.

I feel your point. But odds are far greater for one than the other.

Correction: This was "#nest competitor #Ring employees". Apologies to #nest employees if they haven't yet been caught abusing collected & retained data from customer-owned devices.

Why oh Why?
Unless you are a perve at heart there is no reason for a bedroom/bathroom camera let alone label them as such.

Why would anyone put a security camera in their bedroom or bathroom? It would never even occur to me to do that. I could understand if you put one in a hallway that leads to the rooms, but not the actual rooms!

You're right, but lots of people don't think about laptops or other devices with built in cameras.
