When you spout with an image, get in the habit of entering the Alt Text to describe what it is. It only takes a few seconds, and it allows users who are visually challenged and using a screen reader to appreciate all the content (I'm guilty but working on getting better at this)

Good guidelines here, on how to use ALT text.
It's important for screen readers to give access to blind and partially sighted people.
Also remember to initial-cap the words in hashtags, or it just sounds like a jumble when read aloud. (example: #BeautyInMyTimeline is one I use every day)

Hello - quick question about capitalization in hashtags. Do you know why some revert to lowercase when posting? I read about capitalization on here and have been trying to do that, but sometimes when it posts, the hashtags are lowercase. Any idea about how to ensure the caps remain? Thanks & 🍻!

I've been getting into that habit more here. I have described the Alt Text to the Descriptive Video Service that PBS uses to describe things for the blind/visually impaired.

Can you explain how to do this? I do not know how to get rid of the Alt Text box so have given up trying to include a photo. Maybe I am not understanding it at all.

I do this on my computer. Once you have attached a picture, click the Alt Text button and enter the description. Then save it. It might be a slightly different procedure if you're doing it on your phone.

@cbouzy is it possible for Spoutible to add a reminder when posting a photo to include the alt text?

Euphemisms like "challenged" aren't super helpful to disabled people. There are a variety of reasons alt text is helpful, including for blind, visually impaired, and neurodivergences (I call myself neuro spicy because I have multiple disabilities). But I do appreciate the awareness of alt text!

I first encountered this over on Mastodon. Even a minimal description is helpful to people-it's worth the tiny extra effort!

I didn’t know how to do this, but I’m guessing one enters the description in the little box you’re pointing. I’ll remember to try it if I ever share an image. Thanks for sharing!
