Two weeks ago I had a discussion with a friend who is furiously anti-vaxx.

When I pointed to peer reviewed studies she said the studies weren't valid because "peer reviewed" meant their FRIENDS reviewed these studies.

I think about what she said at least 3 times a day.

I got in an argument with a stranger in the grocery store who told me I didn't understand what peer reviewed meant. Uhm, I was an academic librarian who regularly taught pre-med, nursing, & kinesiology students what peer-reviwed articles were and how to find them.

And his definition was wrong.

It's how loud and wrong they are that shocks me every time. I wouldn't dream of contradicting someone, let alone spark an argument with a stranger over something I clearly know nothing about.
