I take 3-6 hour walks every day, and I have continued doing so in triple digit temperatures. You can go outside safely but you have to be EXTREMELY careful. Have water handy to hydrate constantly, take periodic breaks, and if you ever start feeling tired or lightheaded, go inside.

I try to walk at least 30 mins every morning. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but a lumbar fusion last fall exacerbated SI joint problems, so long walks, even normal-long steps, leave me with a collapsing leg from pinched nerves. I wear sunscreen and empty my 24oz water every 30 mins.

I also take breaks in the shade. A 1.4 mile walk (35-38 minutes) can take me almost a full hour. But I think I do okay for a 65 year old, disabled person. I DO stay inside once the temps hit triple digits, so I try to walk before they approach 90°F/32°C.
