I've never seen the logic/connection in not letting felons vote. They haven't lost their citizenship. What leaders do affect them, also. And someone convicted of marijuana possession should be able to vote for a candidate who wants to legalize it or pardon offenders. That sounds very American to me.

But you can't reform a criminal processing system that incarcerated and control about 30% of Black and Brown folx if they can't vote.

It's all to maintain White Supremacy.

Everyone should have the right to vote period.

Well, they convict more POC for felonies than other groups, then deny them the right to vote. That's probably the connection you were missing.

There is a widely-held attitude in our society that if you are convicted of a crime, you forfeit all rights and deserve whatever happens to you.

Also that if you are accused you are guilty (unless you're a powerful/white man accused of abuse, then the accuser is assumed to be a lying gold digger).
