It might seem a small detail, but I hate it when people say "politicians" are doing these things.

REPUBLICANS are. Attributing it to nebulous "politicians" is "both sides" rhetoric which portrays all politics and politicians as corrupt- thus normalizing these things and giving cover to the fascists
